The NBA and other leagues don’t want to be shortsighted and choose to find the best talent, which isn’t always some kid from Kansas or a Detroit baller. What’s so bad about strategically seeking talent that best fits the organization and broadens the customer base? It’s what good businesses do. (Oh, and by the way, basketball leagues in other countries like China and Russia cap the number of non-native players on their rosters. Why aren’t those leagues talked about as much as the NBA? Then that team decided to stop the steroids a year before the game date. There were no steroids in the blood. They were however huge. Would the other team believe that was fair? What if scholarships were in the line? Would it be fair even if the steroids had been touted as a health supplement? The rules state no steroid use, period. The trans people that participate in womens’ sports have done the same. The best case scenario is to have their own competitive sections.
