<<@rizmacadillac says : Caucasians have difficulty with this too. At least it has caused me to make decisions that have led to confusion. I decided I needed to finish College with my BA Degree because there had been hostile (White, Catholic and Jewish) influences during my time at University. I ended up in work with a Black Boss who called me his "white slave" and he claimed that what Blacks wanted was to own White slaves. They had been "discriminated against" in History and wanted to change this historic discrimination. I am not political and just want to earn my way through merit and I can see that with industrialization and mas production and all that maybe America can produce enough to pay everyone and allow all legal citizens a decent life. Or whatever happens. I often wonder if Affirmative Action isn't a way to "kill everyone". To make all of us whether we are red, yellow, black or white think something that is not true. In any case, best wishes to all.>> <<@One-Ring-To-Rule-Them-All says : It goes even further - if I can choose (doctor, lawyer, insurance agent, etc), I will always go for asian or white male, because I assume they must be really good if they made it. If I get an opinion of what I suppose might be a DEI doctor, I am not going to trust a thing they are saying and ask for second opinion 🤷‍♀️>> <<@RedReb says : I saw you on redacted last night and I had to come and find your channel. I had to make my own way in life and find out that hard work time was my path to success. Thank you for putting the word out, I wish you all the success in the world. God bless.>> <<@mjdutsar says : Ur good bro. Imposter syndrome hits us all in some way or another. If you have the intellect and reflective ability to ponder if your success is do to affirmative action, it's probably not.>> <<@SpatialandTemporal says : What a wonderful, articulate young man.>> <<@bombsaway6340 says : I’m far more worried if you’re qualified than you are. The safe play is to assume you’re not.>> <<@caseyvick7333 says : I agree affirmative action was terrible, but I don't understand how that made minorities who got into the schools they applied for the victims. Nobody forced you or them to go to any college. I have no sympathy for those minorities who failed out of schools they weren't suited for because it was their choice to apply and then to register once accepted and I doubt they were denied the option to transfer. During that period, I was in the U.S. Coast Guard and got a real taste of affirmative action. I went above and beyond to put myself in a position to be accepted into a program that involved patrolling ports in Bahrain during war theater. This was a highly sought-after position that required training and accolades that were rare for new members in the service. Fortunately, I was stationed in Hampton Roads, VA, where I convinced my command to send me to nearby joint forces commands for the extra training required to apply for the position. With the additional training to go with my exceptional military, physical, and academic marks, and many officer recommendations, I was at the top of the list for selection. However, I did have one major flaw that I could not overcome with training or recommendations. I'm a white male. For that, I was skipped over for selection time and time again. So, piss on your "self-esteem" because you got into a school that you deserved. I am an example. My GPA was below 3.0 and still was accepted in… I applied myself, worked hard and received good grades and so, as well challenges. I just think it’s about giving people a chance and how they hold accountable to their own actions for success. A merit doesn’t necessarily define you. This to me is misleading to think that someone who is accepted with low merit doesn’t deserve a chance to accomplish by applying themselves and free will…>> <<@onelevel2346 says : When Affirmative Action were given to whites, its not an issue, when a few try to level the playing field, then it is an issue - I don't feel bad or sorry for Affirmative action.. You’ll easily find people who think it’s justifiable, because of history. Especially white saviors. Confidence is a beautiful thing. If you take that away from a student who thrives on working hard to feel the joy of success, you remove part of their soul and ambition. I hope those hard working students keep thriving. 🍻>> <<@lokimsjrrd3451 says : A simple question, can you name any point in history where the intelligence of black people was not questioned or seen as a negative in the United States? Once you've answered that, Can you name a point in the united States where the merits of black people were seen as valid?>> <<@hdlc4635 says : Unqualified White men have been accepting jobs and admissions to all sorts of positions without a shred of doubt or guilt. Anyone who believes he was granted anything because of affirmative action should feel a whole lot better than NOT getting a position or acceptance because of race. Finish school, take the job and get counseling if you need to get over it.>> <<@TyroneSayWTF says : Then there's the tail-end problem with affirmative action: If you hire somebody because of affirmative action - then, you're stuck with them - and can't fire them - because, of course, then it would be RACISM. Apparently, only non-POCs can be guilty of job incompetence and therefore eligible to be let go for (lack of) performance. SJWs and other such simpletons, of course, fail to think these consequences through - but, what else is new when it comes to the half-baked ideas of leftists?>> <<@SimonSezSo says : Perhaps College Admissions folks should not be allowed to see the race, age, gender or even name of the applicant. Ideally in a perfect society, everything would be based on merit. But as people and culturally, there's always going to be someone getting a hand up whether they deserve or want it or not. I've worked with gorgeous women (of several different races) - who've had no experience or qualifications for jobs they've been hired for and leave the team to pick up the slack. I've worked with men (also of several different races) who also had no experience, couldn't understand processes and had no qualifications for the position, but whose dad coincidentally goes fishing with the boss every other weekend. Working hard doesn't guarantee for most people getting ahead anymore; for a lot, it means being passed up for promotions and opportunities because they're "too valuable" in the position they're in or the other candidate knows the right person, rather than has the right talent/experience. I'm not saying AA is or isn't a problem, I'm just wishing he'd suggested an idea at the end on how things might be changed to improve the system he's taking issue with. Or if someone wanted to make a change, how they might be pointed in the right direction to do so. And also wanting to point out that meritocracy is a great idea, but apparently very difficult to enforce.>> <<@sigsauer7929 says : Unreal, so you’re the victim coming and going. No, the real victims are the people that have been impacted by a federal law that required the use of race for promotions, hiring, scholarships, and school entry criteria. I know this has been going on in the military and local governments for over 40 years. I get the point, but to me this comes off as a self-absorbed, whiny diatribe.>> <<@joseluispcr says : The problem with college from us-america is much deeper than that. Is a lot of money and they still can pick the person that participates. In other contries is based on a test you pass or not, and if you can pay a specific price that is what everyone should pay, if don't get a special discount for some reason. The arbitrarity is the origin of the problem>> <<@greencello599 says : College isn't for everyone. Everyone should go to the school that fits them the best. In the 1970s & 1980s, every civil service list was tied up in court over affirmative action. There was no way a white man was going to get hire or promoted. Plus I didn't have any military service time. The next hire that my local fire department did was to hire a black man and I must say he was qualified. But who who knows if there was someone more qualified? Since I wasn't going to get hired in the 1980's I found another way. I joined the Air National Guard as a firefighter and got the training. I even worked fulltime as an airport firefighter with the guard. Then I found an industrial firefighter job at a nuclear power plant. After 19 years of being a firefighter, I realize that I can't keep doing it into my 50's so while at the nuclear power plant, I switched careers and went into operations. I retired at age 55 as a nuclear reactor operator, with a pension, making at least 4 times what I might have made being paid city firefighter. Now if it wasn't for AA, I would have been a city firefighter. And maybe some black kid would have found another way and made more money. But they are told that they are not as good and need help to compete for the same jobs. DEI at its worst. The department manager when I retired was a black man and he found another way.>> <<@AntisocialRedNeckNerd says : Affirmative Action had been around since the 1970. As a student in 1976, I overheard a recruiter telling the person responsible for setting up on campus interviews that he only wanted to interview students with a 3.0 grade point of higher and “the girls.” There were four young women in our class, all black. Two had the desired grade point average and two did not. I decided not to participate in that round of interviews. One of the young women got invited to the business for an on site interview. I ask her for her impression. She said it was unlikely she would take a job with them. I was thankful for not wasting my time talking with that business.>> <<@BEERNBBQBYLARRY says : Yep. The opportunity loss due to AA is incalculable. Our advancement has been restricted due to endless time, money, and resources being wasted on attempting to prop up individuals who could never have made it in a strict meritocratic system. The future stolen out my progenies hands and given to undeserving individuals, and you say it’s those undeserving individuals who are the real victims? No. May God bless you.>> <<@ronmexico6901 says : In the UK, they call this “positive discrimination” which is somewhat more honest.>> <<@zdrux says : There's no shortage of white people that don't make through the education system and end up in manual labor or on government support.. nobody blames that on racism for some reason, hmm.>> <<@jayteah1349 says : Hey let’s give me a person of color who isn’t happy a white person was told no for a job they were up for, an AFRICAN DOCTOR who had to be a white savior from the UK. America was born as a white country where blacks were property, and blacks weren’t counted in national census. The greatest black town?
