I've always found it to be fundamentally inconsistent to assert Israel is a massive military power, yet hasn't signified the negative connotations of that tag by not having killed more than a slight percentage of Palestinians, over more than 75 years. What, are they overwhelmingly capable and incompetent at the same time? I don't doubt there's malign intent and subterfuge which has gone into the Netanyahu's administration of this whole scenario (though I find very unlikely it was the executioner of the vast majority of its own citizens on Oct. 7). It's become an increasingly anti-democratic regime, in part to shield a plainly corrupt leader who's tried to avoid criminal accountability for as long as possible. Annexation of much of Gaza may well be part of a extended plan. However, Hamas holds no legitimacy and I'm not sure what justification can be presented to counter its utter eradication. I don't dispute the death of 30,000 civilians has been a brutal toll along the path to such a goal.
