What happened for drivers that don't buy insurance? Literally nothing. An uninsured driver hit my brother and it totalled their car and wrecked the back end of my brother's. Since they had no insurance, his insurance had to pay for cost of repair to his car as well as the surrounding structures. What did they get? A $100 fine for not having insurance. Sure beats the thousands our family ever up paying even with insurance.

Who cares? Auto insurance companies are run by scam artists and grifters. Yet another reason we need better public transit, walkability, passenger rail, and cycling infrastructure. Car dependence is killing us. No one should be forced to drive everywhere just to accomplish basic tasks. I live 100% car-free and I've never been doing better financially than I am now. The uniquely American cultural expectation that everyone must own a car needs to stop. Owning a car is not great at all. It's a massive financial burden that owns you. By not driving, I'm saving tens of thousands of dollars every year. The YouTube channel RMTransit made some great videos as to why owning a car is not worth it.

The California Insurance Commission recently "approved" a 40% increase in insurance premiums across the board. Why am I (and every other California resident) now paying +40% effectively giving my auto insurance provider a 40% pay raise? Who gets this kind of pay increase anywhere in any other industry? *I have older vehicles, so not even fully comprehensive cover. This is nothing short of legalized extortion. Who is representing us, the consumer?

Insurance is a big ripoff. It’s like paying a mob boss for protection. You’ll pay more over the long run than paying for most accidents. It wouldn’t be so bad if you could get some money back if you haven’t been in an accident for a period of time. Insurance companies are very greedy.

No accidents, no tickets, no claims of any kind and my full coverage insurance went from $555.00 last year and will be over $1000.00 this year. Same vehicle. I pay by the year for a better rate and still feel like I am being bent over.

*_Yep, correct:_* SHOP AROUND regarding specific services of any specific provider; HOWEVER, personally, we will also shop around concerning the IDEOLOGY that the provider may be supporting. E.g., we're seeking a new provider bec our current one --- of about 10 years --- informs us that they support a WOKE AGENDA; specifically, pro-ABORTION and GLOBAL WARMING ALARMISM. *_We are here in OH ... and would appreciate whether anyone may be able to provide a recommendation ... that is, for a provider who is in alignment with CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES. MAGA!_*

I work as an investigator for insurance companies and have investigated thousands of claims. As a result, I have an opinion. Currently, 49 states require liability insurance for all vehicles on public roads. The McCarran-Ferguson Act of 1947 prohibits the federal government from restricting monopolies in the business of insurance. The Act also allows each state to have their own regulations. Each state (49) has a maze of insurance regulations but none of them provide criminal laws about Insurer fraud. We all see and hear the ads about fraudulent or exaggerated Insurance claims". State and local law enforcement will investigate and prosecute fraudulent or exaggerated claims but no state will investigate criminal cases of Insurer fraud where a legitimate claims are not paid and where fraud, perjury or manufacturing evidence or jury tampering by an insurer occurs. In my experience, my work is micromanaged from the these perspectives: Deny, Delay and Minimize are the goals. IMHO Objective investigations of ALL fraud is NOT what the insurance companies that I work for desire. I work for the large ones. I have a strong desire to detect All fraud, but carriers will fire me the second I provide them evidence of insurer fraud. What do you recommend as solutions? I stopped accepting insurance company assignments for this reason.
