It's no different from saying "I identify as a trekkie". They're just saying which subculture they belong to.>> <<@GarrisonMorton says : I'm a Christian, conservative and a casual furry. Furry just means fan of anthropomorphic animal characters. Not people who identify as animals or act like animals. It's a FANDOM, a GEEK SUBCULTURE. It's a hobby not an identity. There are people in EVERY fandom who take things too far. Banning furries is a stupid idea. Banning acting like an animal is a good idea but these bans need to be reworded. The way they're worded a kid could technically be taken away by animal control for simply drawing cartoon animals or wearing a bugs bunny shirt. Don't try to ban things you don't understand or haven't researched. When you do that you're no better than the democrats trying to ban "fully semi automatic weapons". I've been in the fandom for 14 years. Let's presume for a moment that this is NOT a publicity stunt and that children are actually identifying as a 'furry' in school... that behavior could be as innocent as 'I like stuffed animals & cartoons, so I like to wear cutesy clothing and play pretend', as most children do. In which case this behavior should be handled with school uniform codes, and with education on decorum in public. - On the other hand, if there is a sexual dimension to this 'furry' behavior (as some sources allege), it's could be a hallmark of arrested development or some deep seated body image problems, both of which may require intense counseling...and possibly some investigation into the child's well being at home. Any person with authority over children who would see this behavior and simply call animal control instead of child protective services would be considered the worst sort of negligent - The absurd threat of 'calling animal control' on the child may be a punchline to a joke... but IF we take our legal system seriously and with the decorum of a mature person, it's inappropriate to include it in a bill... in fact, abusing our legislative process with such absurdity shows the same lack of maturity we would claim a person should be expected to have in public by NOT wearing a furry costume. - Rep. Justin Humphrey should be ashamed for bringing such a bill forward, and he should be chastised not celebrated, for doing so... because it is just this sort of action that robs the conservative position of dignity and gives us conservatives no room to claim we are 'the adult in the room', when we stoop to such childish acting out. If it's a problem worthy of being bound to law, it darn well better be a problem worth drafting a serious bill for.>> <<@DAWN001 says : 13:24 Why in a capitalist country the property owners are paying property tax to fund schools that advocate for the abolition of private property (the communist manifesto)? Books that contain lurid sexual refences and photos have no place in a public school room... PERIOD. Does not matter if they are " woke" book about transgenderism or homo sexuality. Humans below the age of consent must be protected from feelings or beliefs that they may act upon without fully grasping the consequences. Once they are are adults they can explore sexual feelings and make a life altering decision. Many young " adults" regret the life changing decision later on. These books can usually be found in the adult section of a public library . Some towns may not allow them in a library at all because mostly school children use the libraries. Then you have to go to an adult book store. But they are not banned from circulation by government decree. That would be a violation of the First Amendment.>> <<@susanternyey5883 says : True about weak parenting by immature adults lacking skills and/or understanding about the bona fide role of parenting, raising (mentoring) children: helping them to grow up and be successful (happy and well-adjusted)>> <<@kimebersole9452 says : Thank you for all you do!!!!❤>> <<@torquewrench1969 says : 👌🐓📸Sounds like it's time for some folks to start donating books to local school libraries! 👌🐓📸>> <<@susanternyey5883 says : Re furries: part of the whole societal trend of childishly confounding reality with imaginatory delusions>> <<@robertdeal9553 says : Are tom and huck' still band because they use the N-word?
