As development has progressed over the decades, hurricanes (and tornadoes) have more targets than in the past. 40 or 50 years ago what used to be woodland, pastures, or open fields is now neighborhoods and businesses.

This is the leftist argument I have seen in a long time. California insurance providers are leaving because California made a law that does not allow the provider to increase rates due to reinsurance. If California won’t budge, then the provider leaves. It’s really that simple. Florida is a market with lawsuit, Ian cost 114 billion in damage, and the market boom in Florida causing materials to sore, but let’s blame fossil fuels and corruption.

nuclear power doesn't add too much CO2, but it is too slow to build and too expensive the solution has been laid out for a decade solar, wind, & batteries can be installed quickly and can meet the needs within 10-30 years luckily, the price of renewables is cheaper than fossil fuels and we are actually going to see a revolution in energy production in the next decade about twenty years ago, because of fracking, the price of natural gas made it cheaper than coal, and in ten years around the world, coal was being replaced by natural gas. and, we'll see renewables replacing coal and natural gas in the next decade mainly because of cost

Living in FL, you had me agreeing until you mention nuclear energy. However, … We are retired and just one of many groups being priced out of the buying or renting markets in west central FL on the Gulf. Both our taxes and home owners insurance almost doubled in January, and we are only insured for the remained of our loan- about 1/4 of the house’s worth. On a neighborhood chat recently, many seniors are looking at having to move away from families, towns where they have lived all of their lives. Some are looking overseas, and some (like us) are floundering looking for somewhere livable within our budget., and away from FL’s insurance and tax mess. (We will most likely, have to leave the state) 15:57 . In the meantime, developers are buying every tiny bit of land they can find an putting up high rises. Being only slightly above sea level, our infrastructure having been ignored for too long, we have major problems with being able to handle the number of people here now, not counting on those thousands who move here weekly. And Citizens certainly can’t!

Should we really be surprised that the insurance industry is a racket? When it comes to natural disaster there always seems to be an excuse of why they can't cover you. You can pay for life insurance for 20 years and if you miss a payment or stop paying into it (most likely 'cause you can't afford it anymore), you get none of of that money back! It also doesn't make sense to pay into car insurance for the other car to get fixed if you just have liability. The person paying for the insurance should be covered. If you've payed for insurance long enough to pay for all the damages to your car or more, there's no reason why you should have to pay more! That is literally why you've been paying for insurance, for the "INSURANCE", right? If you get into an accident and the person that crashed into you doesn't have insurance, why do you get punished? You're insurance should cover everything and you should be able to continue paying the same price that you were paying before the accident! If you've been paying for car insurance for 5-20 years, you've payed enough to get your car fixed 10x over! You're better off keeping that money and paying out of pocket for the repairs. All insurance companies are a racket and only should be legal if they're not ripping you off!

Though I hate oil companies --some would-say a needed evil, we the consumers do love our cars, and inspite of the craziness with climate catastrophes today, we continue to use our cars. As a non-car user for over 20 years, please excuse my lack of sympathy for all homeowners who bought their "American" dream and refused to just stop consuming so much. After all, the US is the #1 consumer in the world. And the thing is that everyone else, some 80 years ago --were not major car users, but everyone wants that luxury. As consumers we choose whether to buy gasoline for our cars or use public transportation as much as possible, or bike. As consumers, we choose to either buy a huge home where fifty people can dance in but in which only 4 people live in --thereby consuming energy to heat and cool that humongous home OR just be more simple in your lifestyle, but oh no, no one is talking about that, not even the Young Turks! So pardon me for not sympathizing with homeowners because the Feds will not pay nor the huge oil companies which everyone helped get them there by consuming their product to an extreme.
