I say income tax because I understand the need for tax, and I support a consumption tax. I support a consumption tax because it still serves the function of eliminating the free rider affect while also allowing for taxation that has a degree of consumer choice involved. Aka: If you drive a car m, the roads are paid for by taxes that you pay on your vehicle, etc. etc. For things that benefit everyone, that would be covered by a basic consumer tax on all goods. This is also tax that cannot easily be avoided. You buy goods, you pay taxes. Thus, less need for the IRS involvement in each individual's life. Thus far, Chase Oliver has my vote. It combines elements of anarchism and capitalism, aiming to create a society with minimal or no government intervention in economic and personal affairs. Definition of Anarchy: Anarchy, in this context, does not refer to chaos or lawlessness but rather to a society without a hierarchical, centralized government. Anarcho-capitalists argue that the state, as an institution with a monopoly on the use of force and the power to make and enforce laws, is inherently coercive and violates individual rights. Capitalism and Free Markets: Anarcho-capitalists believe in laissez-faire capitalism, where all economic transactions are voluntary and free from government interference. They emphasize private ownership of property and the right of individuals to keep the fruits of their labor. In this system, the means of production, trade, and distribution are privately owned and operated, and prices are determined by supply and demand. Non-Aggression Principle: Central to anarcho-capitalism is the Non-Aggression Principle (NAP). The NAP asserts that the initiation of force or aggression against others is inherently immoral. In this view, force may only be used in self-defense or in response to someone else's aggression. Advocates argue that this principle serves as the foundation for a just and peaceful society. Voluntary Associations and Services: In the absence of a state, anarcho-capitalists believe that individuals and private entities would voluntarily organize themselves to provide essential services typically associated with governments, such as security, dispute resolution, and infrastructure. In this vision, competitive private companies would offer these services in response to market demand and customer preferences. Critique of Government: Anarcho-capitalists criticize governments for their coercive nature, claiming that taxation and regulations violate individual rights and hinder economic prosperity. They argue that a truly voluntary society, where all interactions are based on consent, would lead to greater prosperity and social harmony. Critique of Monopolies: Contrary to some misconceptions, anarcho-capitalists are not advocates of corporate monopolies. They view monopolies that arise through government intervention, such as regulatory capture and protectionist policies, as problematic. In a free-market setting, monopolies would face competition and lose their dominance. Dispute Resolution and Justice: Without a centralized legal system, anarcho-capitalists propose alternative mechanisms for dispute resolution and justice. They believe that private arbitration and contract enforcement agencies, operating on market principles, would offer fair and efficient solutions to conflicts. Voluntaryism: Many anarcho-capitalists align with the philosophy of voluntaryism, which extends the non-aggression principle to all human interactions. Voluntaryism advocates that all relationships and exchanges should be based on voluntary consent, and any form of coercion should be rejected. Anarcho-capitalists believe that individualism, taken to an extreme, is essential for society to function in the way they envision because they see individual rights and freedoms as paramount. The extreme individualism they advocate is rooted in the following principles: Self-Ownership: Anarcho-capitalists emphasize the concept of self-ownership, asserting that individuals have absolute control over their bodies and labor. This means that individuals have the right to make decisions about their own lives and how they use their resources without interference from external authorities. Voluntary Cooperation: In anarcho-capitalism, societal interactions are based on voluntary cooperation. People engage in relationships and exchanges willingly and without coercion. This extends to economic transactions, personal relationships, and other social arrangements. Spontaneous Order: Anarcho-capitalists believe that when individuals are free to pursue their own interests without government interference, spontaneous order emerges. They argue that without central planning, individuals naturally coordinate their actions to meet their needs through voluntary exchange in the free market. Invisible Hand: Anarcho-capitalists often draw from the concept of the "invisible hand" introduced by the economist Adam Smith. They contend that individuals pursuing their self-interest in a free market inadvertently contribute to the overall prosperity and well-being of society as a whole. Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Extreme individualism encourages entrepreneurship and innovation. When individuals are free to take risks and reap the rewards of their efforts, it fosters a dynamic and creative society that adapts quickly to changing conditions. Responsibility and Accountability: Anarcho-capitalists stress personal responsibility and accountability for one's actions. Without a government to rely on or blame, individuals must take responsibility for their choices and actions, which, in turn, promotes a sense of personal empowerment. Minimal Government: Anarcho-capitalists advocate for the complete elimination of the state or, at most, a minimal night-watchman state that only focuses on protecting individual rights and enforcing contracts. They argue that a limited government is necessary to prevent the concentration of power that can lead to abuses. Competition and Consumer Choice: In a society where individualism is taken to the extreme, competition among private businesses thrives. This competition, coupled with consumer choice, is believed to drive efficiency, quality, and innovation in goods and services. It's important to note that extreme individualism as advocated by anarcho-capitalists assumes that individuals will naturally respect the rights of others, uphold the non-aggression principle, and voluntarily adhere to social norms and agreements. Critics argue that this assumption may be overly optimistic, as it does not account for potential power imbalances, externalities, or collective action problems that can arise in a purely voluntary society. Moreover, critics question whether extreme individualism, without any safety nets or regulatory mechanisms, would adequately address issues such as poverty, environmental protection, and social justice, which some argue require collective solutions. As with any political philosophy, the practicality and desirability of extreme individualism in an anarcho-capitalist society remain subjects of intense debate, with both supporters and critics offering various arguments and perspectives.>> <<@renardleblanc5556 says : Re; market forces and drugs: how much is a life worth? If someone needs life saving medicine, how do you put a price on it? Do you charge someone all the money they have? Charge all the money they will ever have? Charge all the money that exists? Come on libertarians: put a price tag on a life, name it, I dare you. For all the complaining Libertarians do about taxation, they sure don't want anything in return for what they pay. Libertarianism would make military service compulsory, consisting of convicted felons and conscripts (no volunteers, nothing is free in libertarianism)... you need taxes to pay for a standing army, and no taxes means no armed services (of course, libertarianism would institute private armies&mercenary forces, in lieu of national or state armed services. because they hate the troops... see how that worked out for Putin). Libertarians are the ultimate feels over facts ideology: they have a sense of how they want things to be like, but can't actually define or specify *any* of the mechanisms by which those functions are carried out.>> <<@shantelmitchell3427 says : It has become crystal clear that there is no political party that truly supports or benefits Black Americans. I am anti-racist hyper-conservative (Anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ+, anti woke, anti-taxes, anti-leftist, anti-feminism, etc., etc.) But I don't think the Libertarian statement was racist at all. When Turner declared that medicine should be free, this, without clarification, she was saying something like this: _"The people who spend billions of dollars and decades of life to produce medicine, should be forced to do it without pay."_ That is slavery. To underscore this fact the Libertarian responded that food should be free. He simply pointed out that where food exists, a laborer was involved in producing it, and that like the producers of medicine in Turner's world, he would be forced to produce food for free. Turner then deployed a sleight-of-hand trick, changing her declaration to one where people are said to pay taxes to distribute the cost of medicine across a larger number of people. But in this case medicine would not be free. The Libertarian could easily deploy the same dishonor as Turner, saying that he only meant that we should all pay taxes so that the laborer is paid by the government. There was no racism here. The Libertarian artfully revealed the lunacy and dishonor of the progressive position on medicine.>> <<@coltonsimmonds6991 says : 'That Person His Typically A Coward; And Should Be Trained And Pick Crops And Be Payed With A Beating; How Would That Person Feel To Be Told That'.>>
