After her bout with right wing extremism, it seems like she has moderated her views. It's great to see a video like this coming from her. So few right wing people actually look into our genetic predispositions. When they do, they tend to pathologize progressivism as being the cause of mental illness, rather than considering the possibility that mentally ill people are typically drawn to progressivism. Ya'll have got to remember, societies were made by humans to facilitate human existence, but that doesn't mean every human born into society is mentally geared for society. We've only had hierarchical societies for about 10,000 years. In the evolutionary sense, that's not a lot of time at all. Our ancestors were hunter-gatherers for a millennia beforehand, and hunter-gatherer societies were much more egalitarian. That's why you see so many educated intellectual types rejecting the concept of hierarchy and advocating for socially engineering equality. It's a deeply ingrained value in our species for a reason, and I'd argue it's a good one. It got us where we are today.>> <<@fuentesdevida7941 says : That everyone heard "LIbeRAL IS LINKED TO MENTAL ILLNESS" and left the comments they made shows they missed the point completely. Watch this video again. If you're aiming to have a nuanced discussion about the relationship between mental health, empathy, and political beliefs, it would be more constructive to: Acknowledge the diversity of experiences and perspectives within both liberal and conservative ideologies. Highlight the importance of empathy and understanding across political divides. Explore how different political ideologies approach issues such as mental health, trauma, and social justice. Encourage dialogue and empathy toward individuals with differing perspectives, rather than resorting to stereotypes or generalizations. By promoting open-minded discussion and understanding, you can foster a more constructive dialogue about the intersection of mental health and political beliefs>> <<@justlol7281 says : Everything is geneticsšŸ˜¢determined>> <<@maddiewetter6572 says : As a libertarian I guess I got the recessive genes šŸ˜‚>> <<@MelandRandy says : I grew up abused and extremely poor. I just educated myself on the inner workings of the government way before it became popular to do. I seek the truth. Not perceived truth. Thatā€™s all I want. People would say Iā€™m conservative but I just say Iā€™m a truth seeker. It seems that liberals and Democrats donā€™t care at all about the truth. It actually infuriates them. Which is wild to me. I donā€™t think they could actually handle the truth. Some older republicans canā€™t handle the full truth either.>> <<@olivermcrae1224 says : Goofy Chick takes 5 minutes to say "lets jump right in!" And many conservatives are not conservative. Before we use these terms, we need to agree just what these terms mean. Many so called liberals are now more orthodox and not tolerant about those with other ideas, and pretty much go along with what they have been tought -- that seems conservative to me. Meanwhile, so many conservatives are wanting peace, to not hate people from other regions (like Russians), and challenge institutional thought. Yet they are conservative? No way are political views "genetic" when politics is always changing, not to mention people learning and thus may change their political views, as I have myself.>> <<@coal_man says : Thomas Sowell did this ages ago.>> <<@johnlondon5516 says : Conservatives rational and liberal emotional? To me, it's more clearly linked to the biology. Basically, there are group-oriented people and selfish people. It's genetic and lines up with conservative and liberal voting patterns. Edward Dutton, the Jolly Heretic, talks about this sort of thing from a evolutionary psychology point of view. It's a refreshing breeze after decades of the social sciences all getting it completely wrong and being assh*les about it, too.>> <<@MarcSmith23 says : Your politics are emotionally determined. Women unconsciously know these men are weak and not masculine, so they are not attracted to them. If anything, this video actually explores personality differences present in politics. There are numerous demographic differences, i.e. city vs rural, male vs female, old vs young, that seem like much better indicators.
