As an Irish man I feel very strongly about church The actions that happened under the name of the church were absolutely abominable, vile doesn't even cut it But this is our faith, this is our land that was built under the words of christ We have turned away from everything that makes us Irish from remembering the men who fought for this land up until the late 90s which everyone seems to just sweep under the carpet To our churches where some priests with a very different view point of my own quite traditional view spread absolute left wing lunacy inviting Muslims into the church to perform a call to prayer and spreading pro LGBT messages which the church is supposed to be strictly against The short answer is the church is changing The people are not it's a strict religion exactly like islam or Judaism We have our own beliefs and view points that deserve respect just as much as anyone else ✌️ ✌️

All the Vatican 2 catholics say it's too confusing, I don't understand it's confusing ! Or the mass is enough, no, it's not enough. You must have the true Catholic faith. There is nothing confusing about it !!! Pope Gregory the 16th 1831 let nothing of the truths that have been defined, it be lessened, nothing altered nothing added, but let them be preserved intact in the word and then meaning. Vatican Council of 1870 session 3 chapter 4 part 13 and 14 EX cathedra -- for the doctrine of the faith which God has revealed is put forward not as some philosophical Discovery capable of being perfected by human intelligence but as a Divine deposit committed to the spouse of Christ to be Faithfully protected and infallibly promulgated hence to that meaning of the sacred dogmas is ever to be maintained which has once been declared by holy mother church and there must never be any abandonment of this sense under the pretext or in the name of a more profound understanding. Pope Pius the 10th syllabus condemning the errors of the modernists 1907 article 62 : the proposition the chief articles of the Apostles Creed did not have the same sense for the Christians of the first stages as they have for the Christians of our time is hereby condemned as erroneous. St John of the Cross 1591 wherefore if there be revealed to us anything new or different we must in no way give consent to it not even though it were spoken by an Angel. St. Thomas Aquinas doctor of the church 1274 all those who deny one Article of Faith regardless of their reason are by that very fact excommunicated. Pope Eugene the fourth Council of Florence Session 8 1439 ex cathedra whoever Wills to be saved before all things it is necessary that he holds the Catholic faith unless a person keeps this Faith whole and undefiled without doubt He Shall Perish eternally. Popplio 13th 1896 the practice of the church has always been the same as is shown by the unanimous teaching of the fathers who were want to hold as outside Catholic communion and alien to the church whoever would recede in the least degree from any point of Doctrine proposed by her authoritative magisterium. Council Florence session 11 February 4th 1442 ex cathedra the Holy Roman Church condemns reproves anathematize has and declares to be outside the body of church which is the Catholic Church whoever holds opposing or contrary views. Popplio the 10th 5th lateran Council session 8th 1513 EX cathedra and since truth cannot conjure the truth we Define that every statement contrary to the enlightened truth of the faith is totally false and we strictly forbid teaching otherwise to be permitted we decree that all those who cling to erroneous statements of this time this sewing heresies which are wholly condemned should be avoided in every way and punished as detestable and odious Heretics and infidels who are undermining the Catholic faith. Saint Athanasius God's word is one and the same in the doors forever unchanged always the same Pope Pius the 9th, qui Pluribus I'm faith and religion November 9th 1846 paragraph 20 never cease to instruct all men in it never tolerating and letting pass anyting which could in the slightest degree defiled the purity of this faith. What the same great strength of Mind Foster and all men their Unity with the Catholic church outside of which there is no salvation Pope Saints sixtus 3 nothing new is to be allowed for nothing can be added to the old look for the faith of the elders and do not let our faith be disturbed by a mixture of new doctrines St Vincent of Lerins 445, all novelty in faith is ashore Mark of heresy Saint Paul Cried Out aloud again and again to all men to all times and to all places that if anyone announces a new doctrine let him be anathematized. There is no confusion unless you're a heretic and belong to the vatican 2 fake church, there is no confusion for true Catholics, I'll say that again there is no confusion for the true Catholics the teachings of the church are simple and clear. Nothing is to be changed !!!!! Nothing !! If you disagree with this your excommunicated from the church you no longer are Catholic you no longer have a father in Heaven !!!

Wait till the Christians find out the Devil was totally invented in the 15th century to justify Church's genocide of the myriad of new religions they found out about when they started travelling beyond Europe and North Africa to other continents. Hence they claimed Decil has many names (all the different gods of different religions) and it is the divine right of the church to bring all of them into the light (forcibly convert them) or rid the planet of evil (do a genocide). Yeah.....religious doctrines of convenience it seems. Just like us, we raise human rights issues when the country is not allowing us to exploit them but for countries that do, they can do anything they want and we dont care. How very catholic of us.

I am amazed at how inaccurate are some of these information. Celibacy was part of the Church's tradition since the early centuries. It was not a discipline that was strictly observed, but was an ideal that was held since the early times. And that is where this "report" makes a big mistake, celibacy is not a dogma (non changing truth), but a discipline (changeable rule). So God is unchangeable, but not all the rules are unchanging. Another point about "gay" - there is no change in the official teaching of the Church, it is the same as 2000 years ago. People with same sex attraction, just as any other person are loved by God, but homosexual acts are sinful, because they go against the nature of sexuality, being ordered for mutual male-female complementarity and at least openness to children. Again, the information here is confusing people, because existence of any "gay popes" or any other people who did not live up to the standard that is put before us by our loving heavenly Father, does not mean they can justify any deviation from the teaching. That would be like to say that a smoking doctor teaches that smoking does not harm your health. Smoking doctor's action say nothing about medical science, they are only showing his personal weakness and sinfulness, which comes back to what the Church teaches, that we all have done wrong (we all have sinned) and need Jesus Christ as our Savior.

Anna is pretty bad. I admit that am not writing this after a recent review of history so might be a bit wrong. My understanding is that In the time before the Protestant reformation, society was pretty frozen and the only way to advance from the lower levels (of get a cushy job if you were the third son of a Noble) was to go into the Church. People became priests for monetary reasons and often became wealthy by exploiting their position. The rule on inheritance removed an incentive to steal but was not effective. Making priests celibate was an attempt to make being a priest so difficult that people selecting into the job were motivated by religious leanings.

don't know jack sh%t about Christianity let alone Catholicism, using hot takes and no real analysis just an anti-Catholic and anti-Theist mission. Revelation in all religions does not change but our understanding of it does and also the Church evolves not because of social pressures but because of what God is calling her to do in every era. Priesthood is not a job, though I know that is hard to understand or believe, just as being a parent or a spouse is not a job-its a calling and money or security are not promised. Why not show the whole interview not just the click bait?

The Catholic Church in Ireland was a refuge for gay priests, but now that the cat is out of the bag it is no big deal to be queer and being a priest is unnecssary. The average age of a Catholic priest in Ireland is 70, so at that rate in a decade or so there won't be any priests.

I wish you'd do a tiny bit of research on Catholicism before you accidently make some pretty ignorant statements. Catholic Dogma cannot be changed. However, Dogma is pretty minimal (basically the Apostles Creed plus a few additions). The rest is teaching or practice that reflects the best understanding of theology or the best way to achieve a goal that is in Dogma. For example, penance and reconciliation is Dogmatic and it can be achieved through the Practice of the sacrament of confession. But, the way Catholics Practice penance and reconcilliation as changed dramatically over the last couple of decades based on the understanding of the Church and the needs of the Society. Celibate priests is a Practice of the Church and has never been claimed to be Dogmatic. I think Cenk mistakenly bases his understanding of Catholicism on a reflection of his understanding of Islam and Evangelical Christianity. He thinks that, like Islam is based on the Koran, Catholicism is based on the Bible. It is not. Rather, the Bible was assembled and codified by the Catholic Church centuries after Christianity had been practiced. So, the Catholic Bible is based more on the Church than the Church is based on the Bible. The Church's teaching is based on Logic, Tradition, and the Interpretation of Scriptures under the Authority of the Church The Catholic Church has never had a Fundamentalist view of the Bible. The Catholic Church has a dramatically different teaching on the Bible than Evangelical and many other Protestant Churches do. In fact, the first lawsuit based on the separation of Church and State to stop teaching the Bible was done by the Catholic Church in New York to stop the Protestant view of the Bible from being taught to Catholic children. The lawsuit failed which sparked the beginning of Catholic Schools in America.

Our Universal God, is for all of us and our real God doesn't need intermediaries. All nuns, brothers, priests and even less a Pope, who dress like fake Queen and King are not needed. Just look all the wealth the Vatican has, while most of the world are dying of hunger, poverty, diseases. We don't even need a church to go to pray, we can pray under a tree... and GOD will listen to us. Look at all the religious leaders, for example in the United States, they are millionaire, billionaire, all that money is taken from the same poor people with lies, for the religious leaders to live opulent lifestyle with the money of the needy. The present Pope is a good person, and he like everyone else have the right to believe in whatever they want... but they are not doing a favor to humanity. Most of them have their heart and mind on the money and power and not on the well being of the poorest of the poor, human beings worldwide.

Married Episcopal priests who got tired of the ‘liberal’ tendencies of the Anglican/Episcopal church who asked to be accepted as Catholic priests were accepted-marriages intact. The Eastern Rite Catholic church (in Ukraine, etc.) have always allowed priests to marry-in those countries. However, if those married priests transfer to the US, they cone with marriages intact. The could allow priests to marry. It’s not a deep requirement of the ‘religion’, just a procedural thing which was standard for social reasons. Times change, the church can change with them. Maybe they will even get rid of that crazy ‘god’ and ‘son if god’ thing one day too 😁.
