These jobs of the 70"s & 80's were ALWAYS filled by retirees in the day and high school kids in the afternoon/evenings. Now you want a living wage for this employment without raising the cost of goods. Raise there pay to $25.00 and you $40 jeans are now $64.00! EDIT: if only a portion of this generation, who are filling yesterday's part time work, and the rest of them are NOT working, then YES they have to beg an employer for time off because they are short handed to begin with!>> <<@yegfreethinker says : beginning to think lauren's elementary School had lead paint or something. The total absence of mind of quoting an Italian Prime Minister when talking about the dangers of companies and governments screwing things together Beyond f****** hilarious and she calls herself a journalism has she ever heard of something called fascism it's exactly that collusion between corporations and government and f****** s*** up>> <<@reichfrog2 says : Boomers left us with nothing.>> <<@jdp5271989 says : We could get into purchasing power and the absolute parabolic move in inflation.>> <<@Desperado070 says : Ho stop, intro, go down for matt the lazy one because?!? He does not work, he is a youtuber... Hes wife has more working hours than he does. You f kidding me? and these are the ones complaining about others being lazy? Hahahahaha>> <<@lincolnhaldorsen5649 says : I think a lot of it is mental problems like for me and some other people I know it’s just work can be overwhelming and we are used to hiding in our phones and then there’s the broken families and the loneliness and the lack of romantic relationships and inflation and the substance problems and it just combined into one big ugly mental mess>> <<@johnb7337 says : All that works. I was waiting for the part about it all being liberals' fault. It was nice that was skipped this time, since it's really an outcome of a whole economic and political system.>> <<@tralalala2616 says : you are really cute and funny <3 <3>> <<@twiston43 says : I miss our Grandparents' Generation running the World. RIP Silent Generation...>> <<@keithjones6862 says : I feel that there is a day coming when all will learn that a job is a privilege and not a right. Job performance will become the winnowing fan, time will tell.>> <<@khatack says : I'll choose the "I'll go work somewhere else" option.>> <<@kosmicspawn says : What type of treatment did people really expect of one another when you have an economic system that is designed on purpose to remove resources including financial from you as a person, and it's based on scarcity than on the abunance that is being extracted and exploited from the land the world and peoples time or labor, is it not a wonder why people can not get "assets" or create a future for themselves or their families because those that already have these assets and lifestyle financially or otherwise suppose to just give it up?>> <<@Cruelaid says : I spend at least 80% of my time at work doing stuff that exists to help promote or justify the existence of people above me. this allows 1 day per week to do my actual job. And the company wonders why we can't meet customer & growth expectations. fk them all. 😃>> <<@seththecat9317 says : Im trying to find a video on how to get out of this whole mess of a catch 22 that is trying to rise up and live a life of sorts right now. Schooling loans arent a safe bet when the job competition is so high, housing is unfordable without a better job, which requires schooling. I make a good wage, a wage people 20 years ago wouldve been very comfortable with. Thats just not enough. I have good credit. But its like theres no options out there for anyone at about the age of 20 right now.>> <<@michalisyerakakis3980 says : If you listen to this woman and make life choices accordingly you will die a poor man.>> <<@tiernanwearen8096 says : Because economic serfdom isn't fun>> <<@77tubuck says : I am on Welfare. I do not have time to work right now because I am exercising. I am doing 2000 sit up every day. The problem is i want to have six pack abs. I know the tax payer is paying for my welfare. Being on welfare is the only way I can get six pack abs. You try getting six pack abs if you think it is easy.>> <<@jackwardley3626 says : The only reason I can think of is pay. Pay is rubbish in most jobs for what things cost whether its always been that way or not I don't know as im only 30 but it certainly is that way now. over here in the U.K. a lot people on benefit are just as well off as people who work full time very controversial over here but its true seen it with my own eyes even got mates who are on benefit for not much reason and they've told how much they get a month and also get free prescriptions reduced cost if they need glasses don't pay tax free or reduce dental get a lot of help with rent both of them got really good second cars etc i could go on all because there feeling a bit upset (mental health)>> <<@starnealy4550 says : Totally agree with the management side! They are telling the truth! They lie and lie and lie, you can't trust them! Family emergency, well quit your job and do your family emergency, be unemployed and look for another job! Another minimum wage job!>> <<@starnealy4550 says : Their spoiled and who did it, their parents. Don't work then, see how that works out for you!>> <<@shrunkensimon says : I love that Socrates quote. It sums up the entire problem; the older generations, having lost touch with what we (they) are, fail to connect with the younger folk who are acting out and then sit around hypothesizing, lamenting, the young for acting completely naturally, instead of reaching out and showing them some love. All that philosophizing. I wonder if it ever occurred to him to enter into a dialogue with the young, to understand them, as opposed to entering into a dialogue with his own navel.>> <<@kevin4615 says : Economic times are super tough for all businesses. Most are barely keeping their doors open. My small business is in that exact predicament. Priority 1 is to avoid bankruptcy, priority 2 is to keep the workers motivated. Owners are taking more strain than ever.>> <<@gravemind6536 says : I work but I don't have any loyalty or any shits to give. I will work in a job as long as it suits me and leave the moment something better shows up. Loyalty in the workplace is a 1 way street you are disposeable and when it suits a company you will simply be fired. I just keep going hoping and earn far more than people who remain loyal. Life is too short to waste it in jobs you hate with employers that don't reward you.>> <<@heavyflamerheresy2581 says : Loyal to a job is stupid. A Company critic, and a loyal worker will probably not find something wrong with the job.>> <<@guesshoo703 says : 😂taxed taxed taxed, costs too high, wages too low....cant blame them>> <<@scsi_joe says : Both sides bring up good points. For the younger generation today, cost of living vs. wages is the issue. But it wasn't so easy for boomers & older generations as young people think. Some had it better, many others didn't. People had to work their butts off too back then, and the jobs available weren't that great (compared to today). There was a lot more manual labor work. There were little to no tech jobs (obviously), and not as many office jobs to go around. You couldn't make a living from social media, as many do now. So people (especially newcomers) had to work in factories and other labor jobs with less health & safety laws/standards than exist today. And there wasn't as much social assistance from the government.>> <<@michaeld5888 says : Given that any application for a white male to work in Aviva for example has to be vetted by the CEO, the RAF openly does not want them it is hardly surprising that a large proportion of the population just is not going to that interview. It is fascinating how a substantial proportion are told they are not wanted and will only be reluctantly hired then howls of complaint when they decide it is a lost cause. Difficult enough to get a job interview even in saner times but must be a really demoralising procedure nowadays. What a relief it was leaving the toxic rule and form driven environment of the modern corporation. That was before the gender wars really kicked off with the wrong pronoun out of a hundred to choose from becoming the blasphemy of a new order.>> <<@TegPi says : Why old people won't pay living wages that keep up with inflation? Stop turning the narrative around, because they're plenty of people who would work for a better life of they had the opportunity to do so, the problem is that has been systematically destroyed for most young Americans.>> <<@sk8legendz says : 1:31 matt isn't wrong, but the problem is they just let slackers slack, and load up the work horses til they burnout and then they threaten to fire them/fire them when they can't pull the extra load anymore. the only workers they'll ever retain are the slackers they dont punish.>> <<@unclematt9083 says : Young people aren't incentivised enough to give up their time for a career. They aren't stupid, they can see that their parents and grandparents had a much easier life than they are being offered so they just aren't playing because they know the game isn't fair. What is the point in working if it's just to pay bills and barely survive? That's nothing more than slavery. If a job doesn't pay enough so one income is enough to run a household and take vacations then it is a waste of time and young people have wised up. They want the same as previous generations got, and are rightfully demanding it.>> <<@hondamugen1 says : I'm late to the party I suppose as far as comments are concerned, but I agree with you 100% and you're one of the few conservatives that has made these points. I'm a conservative that believes in capitalism but an often overlooked point not discussed by most people is that younger generations are not truly lazy, but just depressed. How can society expect younger people to have a strong work ethic and loyalty to their companies when the companies that they work for treat them like slaves? In the old days, you didn't need college (although it was much more affordable if one chose to get an education back then) and you also didn't need to rack up debt to get a decent job.Housing was reasonably affordable, transportation and the associated costs were attainable by most, and you could raise a family on a single income. Not to mention that back then they had pensions and many companies paid for an entire family's health insurance (I'm American). My wife and I are older millennials and we both have to work in order to afford a modest lifestyle. We considered having kids but who can afford them anymore? Even if we could, I"m not sure I would want to bring them into this world considering the direction it's heading. Maybe I am just a pessimist but I also think I'm a realist.>> <<@nvr5490 says : This is happening because every dumb CEO is chasing a number on a piece of paper. They're hardly chasing luxuries for themselves. Let's say company X has a nett profit of 54 miliion. CEOs of company Y are going to kill themselves to beat that 54 mil next year. They're chasing a number on a piece of paper and a pat on the back. That's what it comes to. It's a sick society we live in..>> <<@ARandomDonut says : With the way everything is going right now, I've learned that until something changes, I'm playing my own. I'm focusing on how I can get what I want first and foremost, and that usually includes not working for a full year. I also think it's awesome how younger people have kind of banded together across party lines to be like, "yeah, this fucking sucks". There are many minor and major details on what each person thinks we should do about it, but the general sentiment across the board is that we should give working people more power.>> <<@ceola9092 says : Isn’t Matt supposed to promote family values and stuff? Family comes before work, period. Especially in times of emergencies>> <<@Cspacecat says : Green energy is distributed energy that requires more labor to produce. Here, Lauren Southern is wrong. Canada will face a loss in jobs because many jobs in Canada are from fossil fuels. Move to the US where industry is set to dramatically increase as Chinese production decreases. Electrical transmissions are set to replace pipelines. The cost of electricity will decrease as solar becomes the largest supplier of energy. Why? The combination of pervoskite and monocrystalline solar panels will increase solar efficiency by 50%. This will undercut natural gas by about 45% and coal by about 60%. If you are in the fossil fuel industry, start training in electrical power.>> <<@lukelblitz3627 says : Honestly,i qm just lazy. I dont care about benefits, salary, fulfillment or any of that,i just dont want to spend my life doing something that requires effort. if i starve, i starve.>> <<@PeaceLoveHopeAndHeyDankDope says : 24:20>> <<@ania5038 says : I had an interview for a legal assistant position (aka the slaves of lawyers) where the guy was grilling me on how much commitment he expected and that I couldn't take time off because of COVID-19 or anything and of course I didn't know the salary for the position because it wasn't posted on the stupid job posting and it was literally minimum wage which he only told me at the very end of the interview. I'm just glad that Ontario is mandating posting salaries on job postings now so that I no longer have to waste my time. That firm can get fucked.>> <<@MichellesdesignsEtc says : Here in Ohio companies in the middle sized towns want to pay licensed and trained HVAC people near minimum wage trades aren't the be all that you'd think! My brother who is really really smart only makes 15 dollars an hour and only gets 20 mins to eat.... he is already too skinny! He needs to be able to eat!! 😢especially since he is now working full time!>> <<@fatoldman7346 says : The coal mine is closed because they blow the top off the mountain and have 8 people with heavy machinery dig out the coal. On the plus side they get to work outside and not in a mine.>> <<@armontecalvo says : It’s up to you to change your situation not the business. You were hired for a job no one forcing you to work. Be an adult, an be one time, it’s just poor character otherwise>> <<@DocOrtmeyer says : Honestly: I’m in stocks, Simple rule: don’t work for publicly traded companies or their subsidiaries.>> <<@IsureamFalling says : Title is misleading , in this day and age , you’re forced to work>> <<@stvlu733 says : Becase they vulnerable pussies and wanr the easy way out. They don't stand up for themselves. Not working is not the answer, but not leading is a shame! They will have nothing to show for themselves in the future. Put tha in your pipe and smoke it!>> <<@truno7 says : They want America dead. Kill The work ethic. It removes good doctors Lawyers and police. It removes the blue collar. Now illegals will gladly do the job And vote the way they want votes. It’s so easy to see.>> <<@sharonramirez8014 says : Seriously 😮 I can't stand fast food drive-thrus have closed the first window for good. It's visual proof and a reminder that they're having one employee do the work of 2. Someone having a life would impact the workplace much less if it wasn't constantly run by a skeletal crew. In 1999 i made 8/hr at McDonald's. Today's workers make 12 while handling twice the tasks on a ucking timer with artificially short expectations. Who could possibly keep their cool>> <<@CraftyZanTub says : Canada at least allows the hopeless a humane exit, MAiD.>> <<@ramhaven2322 says : I'm a boomer/Gen X borderline. Don't care about problems of youth I am trying to retire. I need you guys to either work in shitty jobs or move to Canada or mental institution(maybe they are the same). Get the hell off my lawn>> <<@ramhaven2322 says : The worse job by far must be Helpdesk(LOL) at AT$T.. you can tell these people are 5 minutes away from offing themselve over the phone and after giving my name for the fifth time to (Karen) I also want to off myself in a group (Canada). The fact they do not care about me or my problem just oozes from every pore in there obese greasy body and it comes through over the phone. I sometimes wonder why they don't just put out a disclaimer that (we are AT&T and we don't a F%%ck about you or your problem) and then they should just merge with comcast(see funny or die video).>>
