Eggs used to be one of the cheapest protein sources you could get and routinely sold for 99 cents a dozen. Now they're becoming a luxury. Fortunately, my neighbor has chickens and has been sharing her eggs with my partner and I in exchange for herbs, brush haul-off, etc., so it helps mitigate the cost. We'll be getting chickens of our own sometime this year.
